1st Ever Middle East Conference

“Keep them from ruining our Good Will Conference”

SITA Execs vs. 7 Middle Eastern / Northern African airlines

Every time SITA Exec leadership had individual meetings or retreats with any one of the
8 major airlines based/serving this region, the executive owners and operators of these
airlines would heavily complain about SITA services. Their basic argument was SITA
always gave the lowest priority or urgency to this region’s airlines in favor of any other
Airlines serving this region, like American Airlines, British Airways, Swiss Air, Air France,
KLM, and others. In fact, these regional airlines had a valid argument based on
performance reports for actual time and resources allocated to resolving critical
transportation issues in the region.

SITA decided to offer a token “peace offering” in the
form of holding the first ever SITA-sponsored Middle Eastern Air Conference in Dubai,
held at an ultra luxury, 7 Star [the first of its kind] hotel overlooking the Persian Gulf.
I was assigned on contract with SITA, to attend the conference as a “neutral consultant”
and make sure the SITA execs were not verbally assaulted in the conference
sessions… which to be very clear, the SITA execs fully expected to encounter given the
history of its poor performance with Middle-Eastern based airlines.
